One tesla owner tried to mine crypto with his car by using the internal computer and battery power of the vehicle to mine crypto so let’s find out more in today’s crypto latest news.
San Francisco-based Siraj Raval mines ethereum by connecting graphic processing units to the Tesla Car battery. The Tesla owner tried mining every way with the help of his Tesla 2018 Model 3. He ran free BTC mining software on his Apple mac mini M1 and powered the computer via an inverter into the 12-volt power socket that is located in the center console of the car. He also hooped up interconnected graphics processing units to his can and run the machines off the internal battery of the car. Some of the risks however involved voiding his car warranty but Raval said it was worth it.
When the price of ETH peaked in 2021, he claims he netted about $800 a month. BTC miner Alejandro de la Torre said that mining from a Tesla is similar to connecting to any other power source. He said:
“The main component is the price of the electricity. If it’s cheaper doing it through an electric vehicle, then so be it.”
Back in 2018, Chris Allesi who said was the first-ever electric car dealer in Wisconsin, decided to play with his Tesla as well. He also has a youtube channel where he builds custom electric cars in his free time and noted:
“I like electricity. I like zapping stuff, building stuff. You give me an electric motor, I give you a finished product.”
Allesi tried out a few different ways to transform his Tesla Model S into a crypto mining rig. The mining process is very energy-intensive where machines around the world contribute their computing power to the overall network to create new coins and to validate the transactions of existing tokens. They do that by running specialized software that crunches complicated math equations. To take part, you need a computer and power.
Allesi tried mining BTC by plugging in a Bitmain Antminer S9 mining rig directly into his car battery with a power inverter whcih adjusts the voltage of the car’s electric battery to a level compatible with his antminer. He said the process was no big deal. Raval however connected five GPUs to his Tesla battery and runs a hashing algorithm to mine ETH.
