Enterprise-friendly public blockchain company, VeChain, has created a traceability platform for the rural agricultural sector of the Asian country, Mongolia.

The simple-to-operate blockchain solution contains clearly labeled catalogs and instructions that reduce barriers for rural businesses and allow for the overseeing of agricultural activities happening in the Onguid banner region of Mongolia.

The government will get to know the location of agricultural enterprises, oversee the marketing, sales and distribution of products, and obtain additional information such as warnings or vital news about products.

Agricultural factories across the country will also have access to and manage their agricultural product ranges on the platform as they will be able to review and upload operations-focused data across the whole supply chain.

Consumers and end-users are also not left out as the traceability platform contains a well-detailed landing page that provides an overview of company profiles, product details, production processes, quality test reports, and other necessary details that they might be interested in.

The development comes barely a year after VeChain was commissioned to build a traceability platform, as part of the country’s goal to “accelerate the development of agricultural regions and large-scale breakthroughs in core technologies such as large-scale networking and on-chain/off-chain data collaboration, and promote the application of blockchain in agricultural resource monitoring, quality and safety traceability, and rural areas.”

VeChain’s blockchain solution will be applied to agricultural products namely millet, sunflower, beef, and lamb on an ongoing basis.

The Chinese Bureau of Market Supervision and the Bureau of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry will also rely on solutions to support outstanding local agricultural industries,  develop rural brands and demonstrate the quality of products from the region.

So far, twelve agricultural enterprises have been successfully connected to the traceability platform, with more to be added in the coming years.

The solution will no doubt serve as a benchmark and inspiration for regions across China looking to build similar traceability platforms of their own in line with government policies.

In a recent development, Vechain signed a partnership deal with the world’s largest logistics company DHL to issue non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the VeChainThor blockchain.
