security on mining

Hi all, a quick question. I’m a fan of bitcoin and learning about it. We sometimes hear other PoW chains are less secure compared to Bitcoin. Some chains use [Scrypt algorithm](https://ift.tt/x835nwl) instead of Sha-256 PoW. Obviously, some chain’s blocktime is faster than that of bitcoin. But this should not affect its security. When you talk about security, I think we often care about 51% attack.

Obviously, Bitcoin has the longest history in terms of block chain, so hard to attack early blocks. Bitcoin has bigger overall hash rate so it’s harder to get 51%. But, is there anything else which makes people say bitcoin blockchain is more secure than other chains? (like Sha-256 bitcoin PoW is better than other PoWs)
