A new oceanfront property for sale in Malibu, CA, happens to bask in the glow of the many Hollywood stars who reside in the neighborhood.
The four-bedroom, four-bath home on the beach once belonged to comedian and actor Howie Mandel. It’s listed with Sandro Dazzan and Irene Dazzan-Palmer of The Agency for $21,500,000.
The Malibu Colony neighborhood is also home to other A-listers, who reportedly include Jonah Hill, Edward Norton, Bette Midler, and Tom Hanks.
Among the reasons that celebrities buy here are the 24/7-guarded gates, says Dazzen-Palmer. “If you have children, they can run around in there and feel completely safe.”
It’s also within walking distance to trendy shops and restaurants.
“You’re close to [the member club] Soho and [the restaurant] Nobu, and near the village and all the shopping,” Dazzen-Palmer says.
Halloween, she says, is a great time to spot celebrities in the neighborhood.
“It looks like Universal Studios. The houses are lit up with colors and decorations,” Dazzen-Palmer says. “You can see all the celebrities there on Halloween.”
Hamptons vibe
The interior and exterior of the 1957 build is unlike the other beach houses, which are more modern and boxy.
“It’s got a Nantucket, Cape Cod vibe, like being in the Hamptons,” says Dazzen-Palmer.
Extensive updates include a chef’s kitchen with a large center island and sun-filled breakfast nook, as well as an outdoor entertaining area with a sunken spa.
The primary suite with a spacious seating area and a bath with a huge rain shower provide a luxe ambiance.
The property comes with a two-story guesthouse with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and gym. The patio is equipped with infrared heaters.
“You don’t usually get a beach house that has a little yard,” Dazzen-Palmer says of the rare perk. There’s also a two-car garage.
The seller purchased the property in 2021 for $16,450,000. It’s currently available for lease for $100,000 a month in the winter and $200,000 in the summer, Dazzen-Palmer notes. The furnishings can be included for an additional fee.
“That makes it a great investment house,” Dazzen-Palmer says.
