About [$4.2 billion is collected in tolls every year in the U.S.](https://www.nj.com/news/2015/10/drivers_in_nj_and_ny_pay_one-third_of_all_tolls_collected_in_us.html) Approximately 25% of that is paid by drivers in New York State. Throw in New Jersey and the amount of their payment to 1/3 of all U.S. toll revenue. NY/NJ uses the EZ Pass system on automobiles to pay tolls. Without having to change any of the hardware in the system, NY/NJ could allow drivers to replenish their accounts with BTC rather than using their VISA or MC. This would save New Yorkers millions of dollars in CC fees every year.
