Green energy mining

Please [explain this Forbes piece](https://ift.tt/mQsfYeCrepublicans-and-democrats-will-both-support-bitcoin-heres-why/?sh=5102011d137e) on how US mining affects energy markets. E.g. miners “… are responsible consumers of energy, mining bitcoins during times of low demand, and serving the grid during times of peak demand. ” I assume the writer means times of low *energy* demand. Don’t miners have to mine non-stop to optimize profit? What does “serving the grid” mean?
The fundamental notion is that mining creates demand that helps justifies green energy investment? Much of this seems riddled with logical gaps filled speculatively; they refer to no research. At worst the jobs numbers they allude to should be available with a bit of legwork. It’s laughable they suggest construction jobs dent the state of US manufacturing. All in all, the reporting seems lazy, biased, and begging for an empty-headed rejoinder from the likes of Paul Krugman.
