>Following a request from the country’s financial regulator, Binance has ceased operations in the country.
Binance never “operated” in Israel. Their platform was merely reachable from Israel.
If the Israel financial regulator did not like that, they should have asked internet providers in Israel to blacklist Binance’s locally-accessible DNS record or IP address, or whatever.
It is not Binance’s responsibility to prevent anybody from reaching their platform. Furthermore, it is not Binance’s or any other website’s responsibility to determine the nationality of a user.
Websites ought to decisively reject and deny any request by Israel’s financial regulator, which simply has no jurisdiction over arbitrary websites on the internet.
Furthermore, the internet has the same status as the international high seas. Any attempt at damaging vessels in international waters must be deemed an act of piracy, for which the appropriate response is to retaliate by attacking and destroying vessels that belong to the adversary.
