A US artist called SHL0MS has blown up a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan to create 999 unique NFTs, linked to 999 slow motion videos. SHL0MS’s goal to recoup the cost is to sell all of his Non-Fungible Tokens for $230,000.

Detonated Lamborghini Huracan and the 999 NFTs

US artist named SHL0MS announced his 999 NFT collection of a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan exploded on Twitter:

“Introducing $CAR: 999 exquisitely filmed fragments of a detonated Lamborghini Huracan. Full explosion footage + auction drop 02.25.22 at https://ift.tt/a7sYPQ6;.

Reportedly, the number of Non-Fungible Tokens that came out of it is 999, and from each movement of each piece, following the explosion, 999 slow motion videos were made. Each of these 999 videos is of course associated with a single piece and a unique code making it a fully fledged NFT.

The car chosen was a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, wrapped in reflective silver and black film. The artist also explained that he had to hire explosives engineers to make sure that when the car was blown up, each piece was “whole” and identifiable.

Lamborghini Huracan stars in new 999 NFT collection

The 999 NFTs from the blown up Lamborghini Huracan are being auctioned off with the aim for SHL0MS to recoup the cost of purchasing the destroyed luxury car.

Estimates suggest that in the US, a similar Lamborghini with the same years and miles as the chosen one is worth around $230,000.

Therefore, SHL0MS would have to sell each NFT for more than $230 each just to recover its expenses. A result that could be attainable if one considers the current prices of NFTs, even the most mundane ones.

In this case, Lamborghini has become the protagonist of the new 999 NFT collection thanks to the artist, but there are NFT collections created directly by the famous Italian brand and manufacturer of luxury sports cars and SUVs.

Space Time Memory: the carmaker’s latest NFT collection

Earlier this month, Lamborghini announced the launch of its NFT project: Space Time Memory. This is a series of five NFT photographs of a Lamborghini Ultimate taking off towards the stars and celebrating human space exploration.

In that case, the artist who created the compositions from real elements by capturing more than 1,500 individual parts of a real car was Fabian Oefner and his team from Switzerland. The work took two months to assemble all the images in an artificial moment in time.

The auction of the 5 NFTs closed with prices above expectations, starting with an initial bid of $50, they closed at $203,000, $126,000, $110,000, $70,000 and $150,000 respectively.

With these figures, perhaps SHL0MS’s mission is not so far off, even if there is no direct involvement of the Italian brand.
