The global community has extensively supported humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and two major crypto exchanges are also seeking ways to help the Ukrainian refugees abroad. Binance, which is the biggest coin trading platform, and the Ukraine-based Whitebit have now shifted their attention to the Ukrainians who had to leave their nation due to the Russian invasion.
Binance Eyes Charity Crypto Card For Ukrainian Refugees
One of the world’s biggest crypto exchanges, Binance, will launch a ‘charity crypto card’ in April for the people who have been forced to leave Ukraine and need help, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed on Telegram, following a lengthy conversation with the company’s CEO Changpeng Zhao.
The government official said in a statement quoted by the cryptocurrency news agency Forklog:
“This is an important support for our citizens during the war.”
He insisted that the exchange continues to work with his department on crypto adoption and aims to support educational projects in the digital space to enable more Ukrainians to get digital skills and new professional qualifications.
Fedorov serves as the deputy prime minister in Kyiv. He highlighted that the firm has already committed up to $10 million to Ukraine and strives to increase that amount to $20 million soon. The crypto donations collected via Binance Charity finance the humanitarian initiatives of large intergovernmental and local non-government organizations.
Whitebit To Offer Help To Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry
In the meantime, Ukrainian crypto exchange Whitebit has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with the nation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The firm recently stated that it can help the people who left Ukraine to escape the current hostilities via its representative offices in foreign nations and its technical and other resources. In a recently published blog post, it said:
“We continue to work, establish cooperation with the state, and help Ukraine. By scaling up the business in other countries, we scale up social projects essential for maintaining democracy and European values.”
Whitebit wants to offer some assistance to Ukraine’s Consular Service in the countries where it has functional offices and also:
“Facilitate the transition of foreign diplomatic institutions to barrier-free digital spaces.”
It also promised support for the foreign ministry’s Anti-Crisis Center and a call center offering consultations to Ukrainians in need.
