Question: How many GPUs are mining BTC right now?
https://ift.tt/DWX4ueE
So I’ve tried to calculate it myself, and the number seems to be so outrageously large that I cannot fathom it and I must have made a mistake. I will describe my calculation, and then I appreciate your feedback on how to calculate it correctly.
Bitcoin’s total hashrate is 214 Exa Hash per second right now. That is 214*10^18 hash rate. [Source](https://www.blockchain.com/charts/hash-rate).
As an example, an RTX 3090 has a hash rate of 121 Mega Hash per second. That is 121*10^6 hash rate. [Source](https://ift.tt/FNJGzKw).
So (214*10^18) / (121*10^6) = 1.76*10^12 or in other words: The equivalent of 1,760,000,000,000 RTX 3090s are mining Bitcoin right now.
So, what in the actual f- am I doing wrong in this calculation. We cannot possibly even have produced so many GPUs in the history of mankind.
Best,
Cryptocurrency
