Axie Infinity: What Are the Minimum Android Phone Requirements to Play on Mobile
https://ift.tt/WvCiSKT
The popular Ethereum-powered monster-battle and non-fungible token (NFT) based game Axie Infinity took the world by storm late last year by allowing players to earn tokens for playing. As it has official mobile applications, many wonder what are the minimum phone requirements to play.
Sky Mavis, the Vietnamese gaming studio behind the Axie Infinity phenomenon, has never released a list of official phone requirements to play the game, and as such users are forced to rely on community feedback to find out how to get a smooth gaming experience on their devices.
Most Axie Infinity players enjoy the game partly because of the token rewards attribute for winning matches in its competitive player-versus-player mode. Whenever players win a PvP match, they’re awarded Smooth Love Potion (SLP) tokens for it, with the amount of tokens being based on their ranking.
To play the game, users need at least three digital pets called Axies, available on the marketplace. With these three Axies, they can pay a set number of matches that earn them SLP per day, so most players find the mobile version of the game useful.
That being said, it’s important to know whether or not your phone can support Axie Infinity before you go to the marketplace and grab some Axies to start playing the game.
Axie Infinity’s Minimum Android System Requirements
As mentioned above Sky Mavis hasn’t released any official list of minimum requirements for its users’ Android-based mobile devices, and as such the information contained herein relies on community feedback and is based on the experience of users with different devices.
On Axie Infinity’s subreddit, several users have shared their experiences, ruling out Android devices with 1 GB of RAM or weaker processors. While the game does run on these devices, its performance is poor and numerous matches may become stressful.
Based on the game’s community, here are some minimum recommended requirements to play Axie Infinity on Android devices:
- CPU: A Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 or similar with 2.3 GHz quad cores
- GPU: Adreno 330 or superior
- RAM: 3 GB for optimal experience, some report 2 GB works fine
- Internal memory: At least 250 MB of available space are necessary
- Android version: 6 or above
Using an Android phone that meets these minimum system requirements, you should be able to play Axie Infinity without suffering any type of degraded performance. Keep in mind there’s no official guidance from Sky Mavis, meaning it’s best to always bet on a device that goes above and beyond.
The play-to-earn game, it’s worth noting, does not have significant requirements which means even older Android models should be able to run the game smoothly.
How to Play Axie Infinity on Android or iOS Devices
Axie Infinity’s Classic version is currently available for both android and iOS phones, while its newer Origin mode still hasn’t been released for mobile devices. Both Origin and Classic are available on desktop devices.
There is, however, no Axie Infinity app on either the Apple App Store or Google Play. Instead, users must download the game from Sky Mavis’ official onboarding portal. The onboarding portal helps users create a wallet compatible with the Ronin sidechain Axie uses, buy Axies, and download the game.
On the firm’s official onboarding portal, users must follow the steps outlined: first, it’s important to either download a browser extension for the Ronin Wallet, or to download the wallet’s mobile application.
Next, users can link that wallet to the Axie Infinity marketplace to buy their first Axies. Alternatively, they’re prompted to apply for a so-called scholarship, where other users can lend them Axies for a share of their revenue.
The on-boarding portal then recommends users create an account with an email and password, before moving to download the game’s Mavis Hub for desktop devices, or its mobile applications for Android or iOS, with the latter being available in TestFlight.
It’s worth noting that on Android devices users will have to allow their browsers to install applications from unknown sources. By default, Android phones have the option disabled to protect users.
Is It Safe to Download Axie Infinity for Android?
As Axie Infinity isn’t available on Android’s official Google Play store, it can be dangerous to download the game from third-party platforms. Using Sky Mavis’ official onboarding portal the game is safe to download, although elsewhere users may end up unknowingly downloading malware.
It is vital to perform your own due diligence before downloading Axie Infinity for mobile devices. Even if you believe you are using Sky Mavis’ official website, always double-check to make sure you did not click on a phishing platform.
After downloading the game once, it’s worth noting, it will keep an updated version of it on your device. Downloading from the game’s official website also ensures users can count on Sky Mavis’ support in case anything goes wrong.
That being said, Axie’s roadmap includes the launch of the game on Google Play and Apple’s App Store in the future, along with the introduction of in-app purchases and other improvements.
What Can Players Do on Axie Infinity’s Android Version?
Axie Infinity’s Android version isn’t a cutdown version of the main game. Instead, players can do everything they’re able to on desktop devices on-the-go thanks to the game’s mobile application.
This means players can embark on Axie’s adventure mode to play against the environment and see their Axies level up over time while they face increasing challenges, or enter the “arena” to play against other players in battles for SLP rewards.
Other game features are also present on Android devices. If players wish to tend to their Axies on the go and manage their marketplace listings, they can do so with the official Ronin wallet or with the crypto-friendly Opera browser, which recently added support for the Ronin sidechain.
