Just watched Mayor Francis Suarez on the What Bitcoin Did podcast. Not impressed.

I’ll give him credit for being honest about it, but he explained that he became the “Bitcoin Mayor” because talking about Bitcoin gave him more Twitter followers and engagement, so he kept doing it more and more. He said Bitcoiners are the “Silent Majority” and implied he’s using the popularity of Bitcoin as a launch pad for his future presidential campaign. He said he’s became “close friends” with big crypto CEOs in the industry like the Winklevoss Twins, but to me, that looks more like a usual lobbyist-politician relationship rather than a friendship. (FTX CEO Sam Bankman Fried was Joe Biden’s second largest donor in 2020, so these guys are looking for politicians to buy)
I’m sure he’s libertarian who likes Bitcoin, but to me, the entire Bitcoin push appears to be just a big grift. We are just a stepping stone for him to claim his throne, and he’s just a useful idiot for the big crypto CEOs.
