MLB icon and his outstanding timing for investment
Not the first time the world had a crypto-centric operation locking a deal with celebrities, specifically sports stars. Last year, Major League Baseball (MLB) icon – Shohei Ohtani, pitcher, outfielder, and designated hitter for Los Angeles Angels, joined FTX as a global ambassador too that received equity in the company and was issued cryptocurrency payment.
His job was raising acquaintance with the company’s platform and digital advantages and strengths in general on a worldwide scale through a variety of inventiveness. With reference to the deep-rooted relationship, FTX decided to make a contribution to various charities every twelve months basis on Ohtani’s behalf, mainly focused on helping the animals. Shohei’s Ohtani main objective was to improve the global community.
Sports players starting “New Era” with virtual currency
Aside from Ronaldinho and Shohei Ohtani, Seattle Seahawk offensive lineman called Russell Okung decided to spend half of his $13 million, a contract for 2020, in a Bitcoin cryptocurrency. He became one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Okung states that money is not just currency but power instead and that Bitcoin is only a small step of backing out from the manipulating economy and system people live in.
Apart from the already mentioned sports players, another is Odell Beckham who tested the waters of cryptocurrency too, specifically CashApp which is owned by Square Inc. Beckham is a high-profile football star playing in Los Angeles Rams. Using this position, he is also encouraging other colleagues and fans to join him. Not so long after, Cash App and another NFL superstar, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers declared that he would also take a portion of his salary in Bitcoin.
